Daily by Request:  Complimentary private or group Art and Hotel History Tours throughout the main buildings of the La Posada de Santa Fe by the Art Curator are entertaining and informative.  You will be introduced to stories about each artist represented in the Gallery Collection as well as colorful tales of La Posada since 1882.  These tours last 20 minutes.  Contact Sara Eyestone directly to schedule a tour. 

Daily by Request:  Shopping and gallery suggestions by La Posada’s Art Curator, in collaboration with the Concierges, will make your stay here in Santa Fe that much more enchanting.  Sara Eyestone’s creative ideas, suggestions, and insight about local art events, galleries, and shops that are “not-to-miss” are treasures, compiled on her list and map. La Posada’s knowledgeable Concierges will gladly tailor Sara’s list and map to your interests and add numerous suggestions of their own.    
 
Thursdays at 4:00 pm:  A complimentary painting demonstration in the Library by guest Artists or Art Curator, Sara Eyestone, is a marvelous way to top off a Santa Fe afternoon.  This event follows the complimentary special cheese and fine beer event that begins at 3 pm Thursdays in the Rose Room.

Fridays at 4:00 pm:  A complimentary chef's appetizer and wine tasting with La Posada artists in Fuego Restaurant, followed at 4:45 pm by a twenty minute La Posada gallery collection tour with the curator are weekly memorable events.  Meet the General Manager, the Chef, and La Posada Artists at this informal reception.  Then hear stories of the hotel’s history when it was a residence and art colony, and learn about the artists and their work currently represented at the hotel while you tour the facility with the Curator and a glass of wine in hand.  Not to miss!!!

Jewelry Trunk Shows:  Our first jewelry trunk show will feature the extraordinary work of Roddie Harris Tuesday and Wednesday, December 22 and 23, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in La Posada’s Lobby near the staircase.  ‘Tis the season!

Beginning Oil Painting Classes:  Learn the basics of oil painting during your stay.  A two hour introduction to oil painting class is available by appointment with Sara Eyestone.  The supplies are provided, and the fee for this event is $100 per person for a semi-private lesson for two people, or $75 per person for a lesson with three or more people.  You will probably want to follow this class with another the next day as it is so informative and popular!  Please schedule this event in advance with the Curator.  

Guided Tours to Artist’s Private Studios:  Visit the art studios of several prominent Santa Fe artists with La Posada’s Curator.  These three to four hour tours give a fascinating perspective to the art of the artist. Usually two studios, sometimes three, can be visited in a three to four hour period.  A brief art tour of La Posada’s Gallery Collection precedes the actual studio visits to introduce you to the artist’s body of work for sale at the hotel that you will see in progress in their studio.  Sara Eyestone has access to the private painting studios of John Farnsworth, Barbara Meikle, Susan Contreras, Madina Croce, and Sheldon Krevit, as well as the sculpture studios of Gilberto Romero and Charlie Miner.  The fee is $100 for each of two people for a semi-private studio tour; $65 each person for a group of three or four.  Please schedule this event in advance with the Curator.

Writing, Photography, and Oil or Watercolor Painting Workshops:  The Curator is in the process of scheduling writers and painters to present one and two day workshops for artists and writers of all levels of expertise.  The dates and price of each event will be announced on this website as they are scheduled.  If you are interested in any particular kind of workshop, please contact the Curator prior to your visit to La Posada de Santa Fe and every effort will be made to accommodate you.

Meet Artists Painting in the Garden or the Staab House:  Throughout the year La Posada de Santa Fe invites the Artists featured in the hotel’s Gallery Collection as well as Artists throughout New Mexico to paint at the property, much like the early days when rooms in addition to the Staab House were added to the property for the benefit of Artists from out of town.  In the spring and summer you will see Artists in the garden; when the weather changes they paint indoors.  Please feel free to approach the Artists who will gladly talk to you about their work and their studio lives.

A Santa Fe art auction, trunk show, or painting class at La Posada is a signature event, attracting experts and enthusiasts from across the country. And every Friday at 4 p.m. the Resort’s chef prepares a casual food & wine tasting for visitors and guests, offering a great chance to mingle with featured La Posada artists.
